Surgery on the frontline in Myanmar

Volunteer doctors close to the frontlines of the Myanmar conflict were able to provide urgent – and often lifesaving help – to 30 individuals in one day recently.

Working in what is called the “yellow zone”, a mile from the conflict, they had a frantic day treating gun shot wounds, fractures, shock and landmine injuries. Most of this work involved surgery.

Thanks to the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists, Toi Mata Hauora – ASMS, and individuals donating to our Myanmar appeals, four of these doctors are now receiving a small salary and essential medical supplies for their work.
