Part Time Opportunity

Job vacancy: Mindanao Young Leaders Programme Coordinator (Events)

UnionAID is seeking an energetic and organised Programme Coordinator to help deliver our Mindanao Young Leaders Programme (MinYLP). This is a unique opportunity to support the next generation of civil society leaders from Mindanao in the Philippines, as part of an international development programme funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT).

About the Role

As a Programme Coordinator, you’ll work closely with the Young Leaders Programme Manager and a job-share colleague to ensure the smooth running of the MinYLP. Your focus will be on event management, logistics, and administration—supporting young leaders as they journey through a hybrid programme of online learning and a 12-week residential in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Organising and delivering events such as welcome dinners, ceremonies, workshops, trips outside of Wellington and extra-curricular activities
  • Supporting the coordination of contributors, learning visits, and other curriculum related activities
  • Supporting programme logistics, onboarding, and health & safety planning
  • Contributing to communications – photographing events, preparing content, and sharing updates
  • Supporting monitoring, evaluation, and reporting processes
  • Building strong relationships with UnionAID staff, the MinYLP programme team, volunteers, university partners, host families, mentors, and the young leaders themselves

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in administration and event management (ideally in non-government or education settings)
  • Skilled at managing a diverse workload and meeting deadlines
  • Confident with digital tools (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, remote working technologies)
  • A strong communicator with cross-cultural experience
  • Passionate about international development and committed to UnionAID’s values
  • Positive, adaptable, and collaborative, with a genuine interest in supporting rangatahi
  • Experience in workshop facilitation, communications, or design is an advantage
  • Knowledge of the Mindanao context or willingness to learn is important
  • An understanding of te ao Māori and a commitment to collective values are highly valued
