Make a Bequest

If you wish to make an enduring commitment to social justice, decent pay, and safe, dignified work you can leave a bequest to UnionAID in your will.

A bequest left to UnionAID is a way of honouring your lifelong values by helping our partners in Asia and the Pacific continue their important work building unions and taking collective action to lift working people and communities out of poverty for years to come.

How to make a bequest

Your Will is an important document. To ensure that it is legally valid, properly reflects your intentions and is suitable for your circumstances, it should be prepared by a solicitor or a trustee company. You should also have your Will checked and updated every few years or when your circumstances change.

After considering the needs of your family and loved ones, you can make a bequest of the remaining assets to UnionAID in your Will. Alternatively, you could make a specify a set amount of money or portion of your estate.

Some different types of bequests are:

Pecuniary legacy – a specific sum of money

Residuary legacy – a specific percentage of the residue of your estate  after your Will has made your desired provisions for relatives and friends

Specific legacy – specific items of property (such as art works or real estate).

If you choose to include a bequest to UnionAID in your will, the bequest must include the type of bequest you would like to make and our full legal name and our Charity Registration number.

Full legal name: The Unions Aotearoa International Development Trust
