UnionAID Joins Call for Urgent Humanitarian Aid
UnionAID, has joined 13 other NZ aid agencies are calling for urgent government aid for people living in crisis situations facing Coronavirus. With an estimated half a billion more people facing poverty around the world Coronavirus is an unprecedented health and humanitarian crisis.
Urgent aid is needed to save millions of lives for people living in refugee camps, warzones and places recovering from disasters now facing the spread of Coronavirus. 52 developing country governments, including Myanmar and several Pacific Islands, spend more servicing their international debts than they on public healthcare, seriously endangering the urgent protections from Coronavirus that citizens need.
New Zealand has dealt with Coronavirus well and we is fortunate to be in a position to help. That is why UnionAID has joined this call on the New Zealand government to provide emergency humanitarian aid and debt relief to save lives.
