Myanmar Young Leaders Programme

The MYL programme brings twelve young leaders from Myanmar to New Zealand each year to study English language, development and human rights so they can contribute to the growing democracy in their own country.  UnionAID works closely with Victoria University of Wellington to run the six month programme and funding is provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The purpose of the programme is to build the knowledge and skills of the participants so they can help build the capacity and effectiveness of their community organisations and NGOs in Myanmar. Participants in the programme will be expected to work collectively within the group and to promote co-operation between their organisations in building democracy in Myanmar on their return home.
