Report on work conditions for women in Sri Lanka
The first part of our project organising women workers in Sri Lanka has been completed with the publication of a report detailing conditions in the tea plantations and factories of the Eastern provinces. The findings on safety, harassment, health, wages and hours are drawn from a survey of 243 women workers carried out by professional researchers.
The findings of this report will be used to create awareness amongst other unions, civil society organisations and the government of the daily trials women workers face. Follow up organising activities will be run by our partners the Free Trade Zones and General Services Employees Union (FTZGSE) and run through 2015.

Leaders of the FTZGSE Union announce the reports findings to members in Sri Lanka. President Anton Marcus on left.
